The Victron Energy Phoenix Smart IP43 Charger 24/16 (1+1) is an advanced 24V 16A smart battery charger designed for marine, RV, off-grid and dual-battery applications. Featuring built-in Bluetooth, VE.Direct communication, adaptive 6-stage charging and a dedicated starter-battery output, it provides intelligent charging and monitoring for demanding 24V battery systems.
The 1+1 configuration provides a primary charging output for the main house battery bank plus a second output limited to approximately 4A for maintaining a starter battery. With a wide 120-240VAC input range, the Phoenix Smart IP43 is well suited for shore-power and stationary AC charging installations.
The Phoenix Smart IP43 delivers up to 16A charging current for 24V battery systems. Intelligent battery management automatically adapts the charging process based on battery use, helping provide the appropriate charging profile for both regularly cycled batteries and batteries that remain connected to shore power for extended periods.
The 1+1 configuration provides two outputs for dual-battery installations. The primary output charges the main house battery bank, while the secondary output is limited to approximately 4A and operates at a slightly lower voltage to maintain a starter battery.
This configuration makes the charger particularly useful for boats, yachts and other installations that use separate house and engine-starting battery systems.
Integrated Bluetooth Smart provides convenient wireless access to charger settings and operating information from compatible devices. Bluetooth can be used to configure, monitor, update and synchronize compatible Phoenix Smart IP43 Chargers.
The charging algorithm can also be programmed through Bluetooth, providing greater control over charging voltage and current for different battery configurations.
The integrated VE.Direct interface provides a wired data connection for compatible Victron monitoring equipment, computers and other supported devices. This allows the Phoenix Smart IP43 to integrate into more advanced Victron Energy electrical systems.
The Phoenix Smart IP43 uses an intelligent 6-stage charging algorithm: Bulk, Absorption, Recondition, Float, Storage and Refresh. The adaptive battery management system automatically optimizes charging based on how the battery has been used.
Variable absorption time helps prevent unnecessary overcharging after shallow discharges while extending the absorption period following deeper discharges to help restore a full charge.
BatterySafe Mode helps protect batteries from excessive gassing by limiting the rate of voltage increase when necessary during high-current charging.
Storage Mode helps reduce battery maintenance and aging during extended periods without discharge. The charger lowers the float voltage during storage and periodically returns to a higher charging voltage to help maintain battery condition.
The Phoenix Smart IP43 can also charge compatible Li-ion and LiFePO4 batteries. Charger on/off control can be integrated with a compatible lithium battery management system through the remote on/off connection, while Bluetooth provides additional control over charging voltage and current.
The charger can compensate for voltage loss across DC cabling by increasing output voltage as charging current increases. This helps ensure the battery receives the appropriate charging voltage even when cable resistance causes voltage drop.
A dedicated remote on/off connection allows the charger to be controlled by a compatible external switch, relay or battery management system. The programmable relay can be configured through VE.Direct or a compatible Bluetooth device to respond to alarms and other operating conditions.
Two or more compatible Phoenix Smart IP43 Chargers can be paired in a VE.Smart Network for synchronized charging. Coordinated charging can improve overall charging performance when multiple chargers are used within the same battery system.
The Victron Energy Phoenix Smart IP43 24V 16A 1+1 Battery Charger combines adaptive multi-stage charging, Bluetooth Smart, VE.Direct connectivity, LiFePO4 compatibility and separate house and starter-battery charging in one advanced system. It is an excellent choice for marine, RV and off-grid installations requiring intelligent and configurable 24V battery charging.
