The Actisense PRO-MUX-2 is a rugged NMEA 0183 multiplexer with a stainless steel housing and full isolation on every input and output. With eight opto-isolated NMEA 0183 inputs, six ISO-Drive™ isolated outputs, a bi-directional serial port, and an Ethernet port, it is well suited for larger leisure vessels, commercial shipping, and systems that require type-approved devices. It is designed to suit the majority of NMEA 0183 systems, from leisure through to class vessels.

A multiplexer combines data from multiple instruments into fewer outputs. Since two NMEA 0183 talkers can't connect directly to one listener, the PRO-MUX-2 merges their data so it can be sent through a single talker connection. For example, a commercial vessel with separate NMEA 0183 GPS, wind, AIS, and depth instruments can combine all of that data and send it to a display, or convert it to NMEA 2000 using an Actisense NGX. Any of the eight inputs can be routed to any of the six outputs, and data can be filtered, passed, blocked, and monitored for full control over every instrument's output.

Configuration is handled through a web-based tool accessible from any popular web browser via the Ethernet port, so there are no PC operating system compatibility issues. The tool lets you fine-tune exactly which data reaches each output; by default, all data goes to all outputs. Two-part pluggable connectors, available with screw or screwless terminals, let you add new devices without removing the multiplexer from its mount, and a professional DIN rail mounting mechanism keeps it secure in high-vibration environments.
