5.89kWh of heated, Bluetooth-connected 24V lithium in one 8D-size battery. The Epoch 24V 230Ah Essential Series is a native 25.6V battery that stores 5.89kWh in a BCI Group 8D footprint. It replaces a pair of 12V batteries wired in series with a single battery under one BMS. Automatic internal heating lets it charge in winter, and built-in Bluetooth with a shunt shows your exact state of charge on your phone. It's built for 24V RV, marine, off-grid solar and backup systems.

🔧 Will It Fit & Work for You?

A native 24V (25.6V nominal) battery in a BCI Group 8D footprint, the large size used in many coaches, boats and solar banks. Popular uses include:

  • 24V motorhome & coach house power
  • 24V marine house power & yachts
  • 24V trolling motors
  • Off-grid solar & inverter systems
  • Cabins & tiny homes
  • Home backup power
  • Work trucks & mobile power
📏 Quick check before you order:
  • Your system runs at 24V. This battery is not approved for series wiring, so it won't build a 36V or 48V bank.
  • Your space fits 20.55" L × 9.45" W × 8.60" H (8D), plus room for terminal hardware, cable bends and service access.
  • Your mounting can handle 84 lb. Plan a two-person lift and install it upright.
  • Your inverter's DC input stays within 200A continuous (about 5,120W at 25.6V, which commonly suits 3,000–4,000W 24V inverters), with 115A recommended for sustained loads.
  • Your charger has a 24V LiFePO4 profile (28.4V–28.8V) and supplies at least 0.5A so the heater can run in the cold.
  • It's a deep-cycle battery, not for starting engines. Add a properly sized fuse or breaker near the positive terminal.

Why It's the Simple 24V Upgrade

⚡

24V Without Series Wiring

One native 25.6V battery stores 5.89kWh. No pairing two 12V batteries, no jumper cable and no balancing between them.

🔥

Winter-Ready Charging

Below freezing, charging current powers internal heaters (never your stored energy). Tested to -20°C and rated for ambient temperatures down to -40°C.

📱

Bluetooth With a Built-In Shunt

The free Epoch Li-Ion app shows state of charge, voltage, current and temperature, with no separate monitor to buy.

🔌

Runs a Big 24V Inverter

200A continuous (about 5,120W at 25.6V) supports common 3,000–4,000W 24V inverters with proper cabling and fusing, and 300A peaks for up to 10 seconds.

🔁

Grows in Parallel

Epoch gives planning examples up to 4 in parallel (920Ah, 23.55kWh at 24V) using matched batteries. Confirm larger banks with Epoch.

🧰

Zero Maintenance

No watering, no acid, no terminal cleaning. Rated for 4,000+ cycles.

⏱️ How Long Will It Run?

Constant load Estimated runtime
100W About 47.1 hours
250W About 18.8 hours
500W About 9.4 hours
10A DC load (24V) About 18.4 hours

Epoch planning estimates per battery, based on 80% of nominal energy (about 4,710Wh, 184Ah). Real runtime varies with load, inverter efficiency, cabling, temperature and battery age.

Warranty 11-year limited Usually 1–2 years

🔌 Charging Made Simple

🔋

Recommended: 115A

Charge at 115A (0.5C) for best results (200A max) using a 24V LiFePO4 charger. Settings for other chargers are in the spec table.

🚫

No Lead-Acid Modes

Use a charger with a LiFePO4 profile. Turn off equalization, desulfation and "repair" modes, and set temperature compensation to 0.

🔥

Cold-Weather Charging

Below 0°C (32°F), a charger supplying at least 0.5A powers the heater. Charging resumes automatically at 5°C (41°F).

🚐

Charging From an Alternator?

Epoch recommends a DC-to-DC charger programmed for LiFePO4 between your alternator and the battery. On a 12V vehicle, use a 12V-to-24V model.

🛡️ 11-Year Limited Warranty

Years 1–3Free replacement of a defective battery
Years 4–1140% off MSRP on a replacement battery

❓ Common Questions

Can this replace two 12V batteries wired in series?
Yes. It's a native 24V (25.6V nominal) battery, so one unit replaces a series pair and stores 5.89kWh under one BMS.
Will it fit where my 8D batteries go?
It uses a BCI Group 8D footprint: 20.55" × 9.45" × 8.60". Check tray, hold-down and terminal clearance, and leave room for cable bends and service access.
What size inverter can it run?
200A at 25.6V is about 5,120W before inverter losses, which commonly suits 3,000–4,000W 24V inverters with proper cabling and fusing. 115A is recommended for sustained loads.
How does the heater work in winter?
Charging is blocked below 0°C (32°F). A charger supplying at least 0.5A powers the heaters with incoming charge current only, and charging resumes at 5°C (41°F).
Does it have Bluetooth?
Yes. Built-in Bluetooth and a shunt send state of charge, voltage, current and temperature to the free Epoch Li-Ion app. The security PIN is printed on the battery lid.
Can I wire them for 48V?
No. Series connection is not approved in Epoch's current documentation. For 48V, choose a native 48V battery. For more 24V capacity, Epoch gives parallel examples up to 4 matched batteries.
Is it waterproof?
No. It's IP54: dust protected and splash resistant. Don't submerge or pressure-wash it.
Can it start my engine?
No. It's a deep-cycle battery and not cranking rated. Use a cranking or dual-purpose battery for starting.
