A native 48V battery with self-heating and direct Victron communication. The Epoch 48V 100Ah V2 Elite stores 5,120Wh at 51.2V in a single IP67 case, so a 48V system runs on one battery with one BMS instead of a series string of lower-voltage batteries. Native CAN communication lets a Victron GX device read its state of charge and set your Victron chargers' limits automatically. Internal self-heating, Bluetooth monitoring through the included gauge and an 11-year warranty make it a strong fit for 48V off-grid solar, home backup, RV and marine systems built around Victron gear.

Epoch rates the 150A maximum for up to 20 minutes, not for regular cycling. Its 3,500+ cycle rating is based on a 1C (100A) discharge and 0.5C (50A) charge at 25°C.

🔧 Will It Fit & Work for You?

A large 8D-class case at 48V (Epoch sells an optional V2 & V2-T mounting bracket). Popular uses include:

  • 48V Victron off-grid solar & cabins
  • Home backup & energy storage
  • 48V RV & motorhome systems
  • Marine house power & yachts
  • 48V marine electric propulsion
  • Large 48V banks (up to 16 in parallel)
📏 Quick check before you order:
  • Your system runs at 48V nominal. This is a 51.2V battery. It can't be wired in series, so it won't work in 96V or higher systems.
  • Your space fits 20.86" L × 8.65" W × 12.06" H (529.8 × 219.8 × 306.3 mm, height includes terminal posts; the case body is 11.54" tall). It may be taller than some older 8D AGM batteries.
  • You can handle about 97 lb (44 kg). Plan on two people or a lifting aid. Mount it upright.
  • Your inverter's DC draw stays within 150A (about 7,680W at 51.2V before inverter losses), and Epoch rates that for up to 20 minutes. For heavy loads that run longer, add batteries in parallel.
  • For Victron integration you have a compatible GX device (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX or Cerbo GX Mk2). Without one, the battery still works with any charger set to Epoch's LiFePO4 settings.
  • It's a deep-cycle battery, not for starting engines. Add a DC-rated fuse or breaker (rated at least 58.4V) near the positive terminal.

Why Choose the 48V 100Ah V2 Elite

⚡

Native 48V in One Case

16 cells in series (16S1P) under one BMS, 100Ah and 5,120Wh at 51.2V. No string of 12V or 24V batteries to match, balance and cable together.

🔗

Native Victron Communication

CAN at 500 kbit/s to a Victron GX device. With DVCC on and the controlling BMS set to Epoch, the battery sets the charge voltage and current limits of your Victron chargers.

🔥

Winter-Ready Charging

Below 0°C (32°F) the BMS holds off charging while an internal heater, powered by the charge source, warms the cells. Charging resumes at 5°C (41°F) and is supported from -30°C (-22°F) ambient.

📱

Bluetooth Gauge Included

The included mountable battery gauge adds Bluetooth for the Epoch Li-Ion app: state of charge, voltage, current, cell data, temperatures, history, warnings and over-the-air firmware updates.

🌊

IP67 Sealed Case

Dust-tight and rated for temporary immersion to 1 m for 30 minutes. ABS/PC case with a UL94 V-0 flame rating.

🧠

Smart BMS + Internal Fuse

Overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit and temperature protection, plus a 270A internal fuse (UL 60691).

⏱️ How Long Will It Run?

Constant load Estimated runtime
100W About 41 hours
500W About 8.2 hours
1,000W About 4.1 hours
2,000W About 2.0 hours
3,000W About 1.4 hours
5,000W About 0.8 hours

Epoch estimates for a single battery based on 4,096Wh usable (80% of rated energy). They exclude inverter and cable losses. Real runtime varies with load, inverter efficiency, temperature and battery condition.

Lithium vs. a Lead-Acid Bank

Epoch 48V 100Ah V2 Elite Typical Lead-Acid
Batteries for a ~5.1 kWh 48V bank 1 Several, wired in series
Weight 97 lb Many times heavier
Usable capacity Most of the rated 100Ah About half, to protect battery life
Victron GX integration Native CAN with DVCC No
Cold-weather charging Built-in heater Slow & inefficient
Warranty 11-year limited Usually 1–2 years

🔌 Charging Made Simple

🔋

Recommended: Up to 100A

Charge at up to 100A continuous per battery. Absorption 56.8V for at least 15 minutes per battery, float 54.0V, re-bulk 53.2V.

🔗

Victron Does It for You

With DVCC on and the controlling BMS set to Epoch, the battery sets your Victron chargers' limits. Epoch still recommends programming the same settings into every charge source as a fallback.

🚫

No Lead-Acid Modes

Use a LiFePO4 CC/CV profile. Turn off equalization and temperature compensation. Never exceed 58.4V, the BMS high-voltage cutoff.

🚐

Charging From an Alternator?

A large lithium bank can draw more than an alternator is built to supply. Epoch recommends a DC-to-DC charger or an alternator regulator set up for lithium.

📄 Manuals & Downloads

📱 Get the free Epoch Li-Ion app: App Store · Google Play. On a Victron system, the battery talks to your GX device over CAN (no app needed for that link).

❓ Common Questions

Do I need a special cable to connect it to my Victron Cerbo GX?
For a single battery, no. The included harness has a grey RJ45 plug for the GX device's BMS-CAN port (Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX). On a Cerbo GX Mk2, use VE.Can 1 or 2 and set the port speed to 500 kbit/s. Then turn on DVCC and set the controlling BMS and battery monitor to Epoch.
What does the Victron integration actually do?
The battery reports its status and charge limits to the GX device over CAN. With DVCC on, the GX uses those limits to control the charge voltage and current of your Victron chargers.
Can I wire two in series?
No. It's a native 48V battery and Epoch does not support series connections. Build capacity by adding batteries in parallel.
Can I build a bigger bank?
Yes. Up to 16 in parallel (two batteries give 200Ah / 10.24kWh; sixteen give 1,600Ah / 81.92kWh). Use matched batteries at the same state of charge, link each battery's black port to the next battery's blue port with RJ45 cables, and set the DIP switches on every battery. Epoch recommends busbars over daisy-chained cables.
What size inverter can it run?
150A at 51.2V is about 7,680W before inverter losses, but Epoch rates 150A for up to 20 minutes and not for regular cycling. For an inverter that runs near that level for long periods, add batteries in parallel. 300A is for 30-second surges only.
How does the heater work?
Below 0°C (32°F), the BMS holds off charging while the internal heater, powered by the charge source, warms the cells. Charging resumes at 5°C (41°F) and is supported from -30°C (-22°F) ambient.
Is it waterproof?
It's IP67, rated for temporary immersion to 1 m for 30 minutes. It isn't rated for pressure washing or continuous submersion.
Can it start my engine?
No. It's a deep-cycle battery. Use a cranking or dual-purpose battery for starting.
