Charge at up to 25A for a single battery (50A max from all sources). A 12V LiFePO4 charger like Epoch's 15A model works well.

Use a charger with a LiFePO4 profile. Turn off equalization, desulfation and "repair" modes, and set temperature compensation to 0.

Is 50Ah enough for a kayak trolling motor?

Often, yes, as long as the motor's maximum draw (not its average) stays at 50A or less. Check your motor's specs, and call us if you're unsure.

Can I use it for a fish finder and electronics?

Yes. LiFePO4 holds a steady voltage, which sensitive electronics like.

Can I check the charge while I'm on the water?

Yes, with the free Epoch Pro Bluetooth app.

Is it waterproof?

No. It's IP54: dust protected and splash resistant. Don't submerge it or pressure-wash it.

Can it charge below freezing?

No. The BMS blocks charging below 0°C (32°F). Let it warm up first. It can still discharge down to -20°C (-4°F).

What charger do I need?

A 12V charger with a LiFePO4 profile (or a DC-to-DC charger for alternators), set to the values in the spec table. Lead-acid modes like equalization should be off.

Can I connect more than one?

Yes. Up to 4 in series (24V, 36V or 48V) or up to 4 in parallel, using matched batteries charged to the same level.

Can it start an engine?

No. It's a deep-cycle battery, not a cranking battery.

Can I mount it on its side?

Epoch says to install it upright unless the documentation for this model allows otherwise.
