One 36V battery in place of three 12V lead-acid batteries. The Epoch 36V 50Ah Essential Series stores 1.92kWh in a single BCI Group 31 size case that weighs 35 lb. It's built to power 36V trolling motors on its own, so there are no jumper cables between batteries and no three-bank charger to manage. An internal heater lets it charge in freezing weather, Bluetooth with a built-in shunt shows your state of charge on your phone, and the IP65 case holds up to spray on the deck.

🔧 Will It Fit & Work for You?

A 36V battery in a BCI Group 31 size, made to replace a three-battery 12V trolling motor bank. Popular uses include:

  • 36V trolling motors
  • Minn Kota, Garmin & Lowrance 36V systems
  • Bass & fishing boats
  • Replacing three 12V lead-acid batteries
  • Cold-weather & early-season fishing
  • 36V solar & off-grid systems
📏 Quick check before you order:
  • Your motor is a 36V trolling motor. This battery is not for 12V, 24V or 48V systems and can't be wired in series.
  • Your space fits 13.0" L × 6.8" W × 9.44" H (Group 31 size), with room for cables and a hold-down, and can handle 35 lb.
  • Your motor's maximum draw stays within 100A continuous, with up to 130A for 10-second surges. Size fuses and cables to the 100A rating.
  • You have a single-output 36V LiFePO4 charger (sold separately). A three-bank 12V charger won't work with one 36V battery.
  • It's a deep-cycle battery, not for starting engines. Add a properly sized fuse or breaker near the positive terminal.

Why Anglers Make the Switch

🎣

One Battery Instead of Three

A full 36V system in one 35 lb case. No series jumpers between batteries, no uneven charging, and a lot less weight in the boat.

🔥

Charges in the Cold

Below freezing, charging current powers internal heaters (never your stored energy). Charging resumes automatically at 5°C (41°F). Tested to -20°C.

📱

Bluetooth With a Built-In Shunt

The free Epoch Li-Ion app shows state of charge, voltage, current and temperature, so you know how much time on the water you have left.

💧

IP65 Case

Dust-tight and protected against water jets, so spray and rain on deck aren't a problem. Not submersible.

🔁

Longer Days in Parallel

Connect up to 4 matched batteries in parallel for 200Ah and 7.68kWh at 36V.

🧰

Zero Maintenance

No watering, no acid, no terminal cleaning. Rated for 4,000+ cycles.

⏱️ How Long Will It Run?

Constant load Estimated runtime
10A average draw About 4 hours
100W About 15.4 hours
250W About 6.1 hours
500W About 3.1 hours

Epoch planning estimates per battery, based on 80% of nominal energy (about 1,536Wh, 40Ah). Real trolling time varies with thrust setting, wind, current, boat weight and temperature. Batteries in parallel multiply runtime.

📦 What's in the Box

Lithium vs. a Three-Battery Lead-Acid Bank

Epoch 36V 50Ah Heated Typical Lead-Acid
Batteries for 36V 1 3
Weight 35 lb Many times heavier
Usable capacity Most of the rated 50Ah About half, to protect battery life
Cold-weather charging Built-in heater Slow & inefficient
Phone monitoring Yes, with built-in shunt No
Maintenance None Watering & cleaning
Warranty 11-year limited Usually 1–2 years

🔌 Charging Made Simple

🔋

Recommended: 25A

Charge at 25A for best results (50A max). Epoch's 36V 15A charger refills an empty battery in roughly 3.3 to 3.5 hours plus absorption.

🚫

No Lead-Acid Modes

Use a 36V charger with a LiFePO4 profile. Turn off equalization, desulfation and "repair" modes, and set temperature compensation to 0.

🔥

Cold-Weather Charging

Below 0°C (32°F), a charger supplying at least 0.5A powers the heater. Charging resumes automatically at 5°C (41°F).

🚤

Charging From an Alternator?

Epoch recommends a DC-to-DC charger programmed for LiFePO4. Settings for other chargers are in the spec table.

❓ Common Questions

Can this replace my three 12V trolling motor batteries?
Yes, in a compatible 36V system. Epoch designed it to replace a three-battery 12V lead-acid bank. Check tray fit, cable size, fusing and terminal clearance first.
Will it work with my Minn Kota, Garmin or Lowrance motor?
It's designed for 36V trolling motors, including systems commonly used with those brands. Confirm your motor is 36V and that its maximum draw stays within 100A continuous.
Will it fit my battery tray?
It's a Group 31 size: 13.0" × 6.8" × 9.44" and 35 lb. It fits many Group 31 trays, but measure first. Epoch also sells a matching 3650A-H tray.
What charger do I need?
A single-output 36V LiFePO4 charger set to Epoch's profile (42.6V – 43.2V). The charger is sold separately, and the Epoch 36V 15A charger is a good match. A three-bank 12V charger won't work.
How long will it run my trolling motor?
Epoch estimates about 4 hours at a steady 10A average draw. Runtime depends on thrust, wind, current and boat weight. Add up to 4 in parallel for longer days.
Can I wire two in series for 72V?
No. Epoch does not permit series connection for this model. You can connect up to 4 matched batteries in parallel for 200Ah at 36V.
How does the heater work?
Charging is blocked below 0°C (32°F). A charger supplying at least 0.5A powers the heaters with incoming charge current only, and charging resumes at 5°C (41°F).
Is it waterproof?
It's IP65: dust-tight and protected against water jets. It is not submersible, so don't mount it where water collects or pressure-wash it.
How should I store it over the off-season?
Charge to about 50% or higher, disconnect loads and chargers, store between 0°C and 35°C (32°F to 95°F), and check it at least every 3 months.
